CIS Secondary Library: Leveling in the Library

All English books in the CIS Secondary Library are leveled according to the recommended reading age for the title. Leveling is undertaken by library professionals with consideration of the following: 

• Reputable, unbiased, professionally prepared selection aids such as awards lists, professional library journals, Follett Titlewave reviews, and collection analyses.
• Accuracy and reliability of information presented
• Support of language acquisition
• Formats; readability

You may locate the level of an English book next to the Library barcode on the front or back of the book. 

There are three English levels in the CIS Secondary Library:

All Secondary - recommended for Y7-9, titles are generally suitable for ages 8 and up. 

Young Adult - recommended for Y10-Y13, titles are generally suitable for ages 15 and up. 

Adult - recommended for Y13 and faculty, titles are generally suitable for ages 18 and up.
